Staying at our Seaside Retreat is a unique unruffled experience that leaves you with long-lasting warm memories. Be warned, you might even experience abandonment symptoms when you get back into your day-to-day hustle and bustle lifestyle.
So we want to make sure you are even more comfortable with our approach as outlined in our terms below, knowing full well what we provide is a fine balance of comfort, responsibility and affordability.
Please read these booking terms and conditions carefully as these conditions incorporate the basis on which bookings for Melaleuca Seaside Retreat are accepted. The terms and conditions of Melaleuca Seaside Retreat, as agreed to by both parties, are as follows:
Bookings
Bookings are essential prior to your arrival date. We’d also like to make things just right ahead of your stay.
Bookings can be made over the internet at www.seasideretreat.com.au website.
You agree to pay the rate for each night of your stay and any additional charges up until the time you have departed the accommodation.
The listed prices on Melaleuca Seaside Retreat website are for one couple (Or two (2) people) per night per
cottage. Additional guests can be accommodated, to the maximum capacity of each cottage at an extra cost of 11% per child and 22.4% per adult.
Children cannot be accommodated alone. A minimum of one (1) adult is required.
The accommodation may be occupied by you only for the period stated on the booking confirmation.
To book an accommodation you must be aged 18 years and over. Photo ID may be required. If no photo ID is produced Melaleuca Seaside Retreat reserves the right to cancel the booking and is under no obligation to refund any payment related to the booking.
Deposit
To secure a reservation and at the time of your booking, a 35% deposit will be applied at the time of checkout (Whether paying by Credit Card or PayPal.)
Final Payment
Fifteen (15) days prior to your arrival date, you will receive a first reminder “Request for Payment” via email with a link to the payment gateway to pay the balance of your booking.
The balance of your booking needs to be paid within three (3) days of the first reminder. Nonpayment of the balance amount within the designated time will result in a booking cancellation and the forfeit of your deposit.
Rates and Charges
Our rates are in Australian dollars and are subject to change at any time.
The listed prices on Melaleuca Seaside Retreat website are for one couple (Or two (2) people) per night per
cottage. Additional guests can be accommodated, to the maximum capacity of each cottage, at an extra cost of 20%
per guest per night for guests 16 years and over (Additional Guests younger than 16 years of age are free of
charge.)
Your accommodation at the listed quoted price cannot be guaranteed until the deposit is received.
Minimum length of stay restrictions apply to certain rates during special event periods.
Payment Options
Payments are accepted by credit cards (i.e.Visa or MasterCard) and PayPal.
Credit card payments incur a variable surcharge.
All payments are only accepted in AUS dollars.
Paying via Direct Bank Transfer
Due to the logistics of booking and real-time reservation, direct bank transfers are not accepted at this stage. Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.
Cancellation Terms and Charges
If more than twenty (30) days notice is given, your deposit will be refunded less $35 cancellation fee and any
associated bank fees.
If a notice is given between fifteen (15) and thirty (30) days, your deposit will be forfeited.
If you cancel your booking with less than fifteen (15) days notice, no refund is issued and the full cost of the entire booking will be forfeited.
Shorter than Booked Stay or no-shows
If at any time during your stay, you decide to spend less time than the booked duration, the full cost of your entire stay is payable and no refunds will be issued.
Moreover, early departures or cancellations due to inclement weather are fully chargeable.
In the event of a no-show (i.e. you neither use nor cancel your reservation), a fee equivalent to the value of the entire stay will be incurred.
Check in and Check out
Your booked cottage(s) will be available for your check in from 2pm on the date of your arrival.
Check out time is 10am on the day of your departure.
Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate early arrivals and late departures, the only way to ensure early check in or late check out is to book an extra night. Check out time adjustments may be possible on a case by case basis and at an additional cost.
Early arrivals and late checkouts are at the discretion of Melaleuca Seaside Retreat Management and must be requested at the time of booking and can only be confirmed one (1) day prior to your arrival or departure. Note that this request may not always be possible due to availability of cleaning staff.
Accommodation Allocation
In the unlikely event of a situation whereby Melaleuca Seaside Retreat cannot provide accommodation as previously confirmed, for whatever reason, Melaleuca Seaside Retreat will undertake to relocate guests into an alternative cottage of equal or better facilities at no expense to the guest. Should there not be a cottage of equal or better grading in the vicinity of the original booking, it may be required to provide guests with a cottage of a lesser facilities. If this is the case, any reduction in costs will be refunded to the guest.
The alternatives offered are at facilities discretion. Should the guest wish to choose a cottage of a standard other than that offered under this condition, then the guest will be required to pay any difference in price between the Melaleuca Seaside Retreat recommended cottage and their own choice of cottage.
If Melaleuca Seaside Retreat is unable to provide alternative accommodation the cost of the accommodation will be refunded.
Extra guests
Additional guests can be accommodated, to the maximum capacity of each cottage, at an extra cost of 20%
per guest per night for guests 16 years and over (Additional Guests younger than 16 years of age are free of
charge.)
Number of Guests
At no time during your occupancy is the number of guests staying to exceed the number booked, unless prior approval is sought and given. The use of extra beds other than the number booked will attract an additional tariff. Any persons exceeding the maximum occupancy of the property will be considered trespassers and will be asked to leave the retreat.
Smoke Free Zone
Because of our unique forest location, Melaleuca Seaside Retreat has a strict non-smoking policy in and around the cottages.
If there is any evidence of smoking inside the cottages, your booking may be terminated and you will be charged for a specialised clean to eliminate odours.
Personal Belongings
You acknowledge that we do not cover your personal belongings under our insurance policy and therefore take no responsibility for any loss or damage of the occupants personal property left on the property and agree that you will not make any claim against us for any damages or loss to your personal belongings regardless of how or where the loss or damage occurred.
Behaviour
Guests seek out our retreat for its peacefulness and serene calm atmosphere. Parties or gatherings are prohibited, unless prior arrangements have been made with Melaleuca Seaside Retreat Management. Disturbance to neighbours including excessive noise is prohibited and may result in the eviction from the retreat without refund.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. We suggest that the policy should include, but not be limited to, the reimbursement of any monies paid in the event the travel is cancelled; loss or damage to personal baggage and loss of money and medical expenses.
Breakages and Damages
It is expected that your assigned cottage will be returned to us in the condition presented on arrival.
Damages or breakages of furniture or furnishings must be reported to Melaleuca Seaside Retreat Management immediately.
Breakages or damages to the property and all communal or external areas that are caused by any guest and/or a guest’s visitor will be charged and recouped in full from the guest’s credit card.
Excess cleaning required on departure or replacement of items removed from the cottage will be charged to the guest’s credit card.
Furniture, fixtures and fittings are not to be altered or moved between rooms or cottages. There will be a charge incurred if furniture is not returned to its original location.
Melaleuca Seaside Retreat must be informed of any problem or complaint as soon as possible as to rectify the situation as quickly and as efficiently as possible. You must allow access to the cottage for service technicians to undertake repairs during reasonable hours. We will notify you and confirm the day, date and time of the appointment. We will arrange access if you are not available at the designated time.
Linen
All of our cottages are fully self-contained which includes linen (sheets, pillow cases, towels & tea towels) unless specified otherwise.
A replacement cost will be incurred for any linen that is permanently stained by, but not limited to, hair dye, bleach, fake tan, permanent ink.
Liabilities
You acknowledge that we do not accept liability for any injury, damage, loss, additional expenses and disruptions caused directly or indirectly by events, which are beyond our control and agree not to make any claim in relation thereto.
Swimming Pool Rules
All guests using the pool do so at their own risk. You acknowledge that we are not responsible for accidents or injuries. No diving, running or pushing in a pool area is allowed.
No glassware allowed in a pool area.
No Tenancy
You agree that regardless of your length of stay in there is no tenancy or other rights created under any Landlord and Tenant laws and there are no such laws that apply to your stay.
Commercial Use
The cottages are not to be used for commercial use.
Rates
Our rates are seasonal and they vary with the day of the week, length of stay, time of year and number of bedrooms.
Minimum length of stay
All nights for all cottages, a minimum booking of two (2) nights is required.
For Christmas or Easter Holidays, a minimum booking of three (3) nights is required.
Melaleuca Seaside Retreat reserves the right to alter our standard tariffs and minimum night booking requirements for both Large and Small cottages during periods of high demand.
Rates and Complimentary Offers
In our one-bedroom cottages (Banksia and Bluegum), rates start at $280 per couple per night.
This includes one Complimentary Breakfast Basket for 2 people for the first day.
Additional Breakfast Baskets can be provided for a cost of $40 each (Please let us know 48hrs ahead.)
Discounts and Specials
In our two-bedroom cottage (Paperbark), rates starts from $295 per couple per night. This includes one Complimentary Breakfast Basket for 2 people for the first morning. Additional Breakfast Baskets can be provided for a cost of $40 each (Please let us know 48hrs ahead.)
Discounts and specials may also be available during off-peak season (For long-term stays.)

Extra Services
In-cottage massages are available and are preferably requested when the booking is initially made.
The cost is $110 for a 1 hour full-body massage per guest.
Families with Children
Parents need to be aware that in addition to the beach-side of the retreat, water features are present on Melaleuca Seaside Retreat property (Especially during a raining period.) It is expected that parents supervise their children during their stay.
Guests Privacy
Our cottages are situated with ample space around each, secluded by the extended forest for a natural privacy. This allows guests retreat and the ultimate bush setting to enjoy your country holiday.
Right To Refuse Entry
Melaleuca Seaside Retreat reserves the right to refuse entry :-
Eviction
Melaleuca Seaside Retreat reserves the right to evict the guest and or visitors should the following (but not limited to) occur:
Guests who are evicted from our retreat will be blacklisted and we may choose to notify the police. In the event of eviction, all monies owed or held will be forfeited.
Animals and Pets
Dogs and Horses are welcome at Melaleuca Seaside Retreat.
No responsibility whatsoever is accepted by Melaleuca Seaside Retreat for the well-being, safety or security of any animal brought onto the retreat.
It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that some form of tick protection be used on animals brought onto the retreat.
Dogs: Dogs are very welcome at Melaleuca Seaside Retreat but inside the cottages and they are accommodated at an additional cost.
A non-refundable pet fee of $220 automatically applies for guests with dogs or cats.
Strictly Dogs are NOT allowed inside the cottages.
Up to two (2) dogs can be kept on the gated deck outside the cottages.
Dogs staying on the deck should be strictly kept off the deck screens, furniture and out of the spa.
It is important to note that guests are responsible for any repairs of damage, and/or for any additional cleaning required resulting from their dog’s or cat’s behaviour.
Breed restrictions and a weight/size limit
Your dog’s maximum weight shouldn’t be more than 20 kg (44 lbs.)
Dogs left unattended
Your dog will need to be always under your supervision. We fear dogs left unattended may bark and disturb other
patrons, or damage the cottage deck area in your absence. If you are planning some dog-less activities, you need
to consider your options before bringing your dog(s) with you.
Restricted off limits areas for pets
Inside of the Cottages, swimming pool and the gaming room areas are completely off limits.
However the forest and the beach are fine.
Note that the council require dogs to be on a leash when on the beach between 8am and 7pm.
Horses: Paddocks are available for your horse(s) to stay in at an additional $20 per night per horse. If the horse is kept outside in the paddock there’s no additional fee.
By proceeding to book, guests accepts responsibility for any damage caused by their pets.
Breach of Terms and conditions
You agree that, should you or your guests breach any of the terms and conditions:
Payment of deposit or full payment constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions
The terms and conditions of booking are subject to change without notice.
